Tamper-evident audit trail

A tamper-evident audit trail is a record designed so that unauthorized changes can be detected rather than silently replacing prior history.

Techniques may include append-only records, cryptographic hashes, linked event histories, signatures, and restricted administrative access.

Tamper-evident does not automatically mean legally immutable; buyers should ask how integrity is implemented and verified.
